WoW Meta FAQ
Where is the data coming from?
All data on WoW Meta is based solely on statistics. There is no 'author's opinion' involved anywhere on the site.
Our servers automatically gather data from the World's Best Players from the following sources every 24 hours:
-
Tier Lists:
- Raiding: Warcraft Logs - raid logs
- Mythic+: Official Blizzard Mythic+ API - M+ runs
- PvP: Blizzard's PvP Leaderboards API - PvP players
-
Meta Builds:
- Raiding: Warcraft Logs - raid logs
- Mythic+: Warcraft Logs - M+ "Logs Only" logs
- PvP: Blizzard's PvP Leaderboards API - PvP players
Every time we retrieve this data, our algorithms crunch the Big Data numbers into useful statistics presented on the site.
Who is this website for?
WoW Meta's target audience is all World of Warcraft players, regardless of their skill level – from newcomers to veterans.
Basically, anyone who appreciates numbers and statistics should hopefully find value here.
Should I choose the best option based on Popularity or Median/Max value?
As a rule of thumb: go with the option that has more Popularity whenever unsure – if it's popular among the top-performing players we collect data from, it's likely a safe choice.
When you feel more advanced and knowledgeable, you can start sorting by Median/Max values and conduct more thorough research from there.
What is the "Score" metric used in Mythic+ statistics?
Score is a proprietary metric of Warcraft Logs; it's how they measure the relative performance of each player in Mythic+ runs.
You can read more about it here.
Is WoW Meta supposed to be used in lieu of Warcraft Logs, RaiderIO, other sites, etc.?
No. WoW Meta is a complementary resource designed to be used alongside other sources.
That's why links to the original sources are always provided for the data you see on the site – so users can further their research there.
Also, we recommend that you join your Class Discord. It's one of the best resources for questions and information. You can find the list of Discord links here on Reddit.
